A Ministry on Mission

Bringing Christ’s Love to Families in Crisis

Since 1982, we’ve been showing up after the storm—listening, praying, and serving families with skillful hands and hopeful hearts.

WATCH OUR STORY

At the Heart of Who We Are

Christ In Action is a ministry on mission. Since 1982, we’ve been bringing the love of Jesus where it’s most desperately needed and hardest to find—listening, praying, and serving with open hearts. What began as a street ministry grew into national disaster relief efforts in 1998, mobilizing volunteers to cut trees, clear debris, serve meals, and care for hearts.

Disaster relief is a vital part of our mission—but it’s not the whole story. At the center of it all is Christ. His love is why we go, and every act of service is an opportunity to share the hope of the Gospel.

Serving practically, loving spiritually.

His love compels every act of service.

In everything, we strive to honor Him.

We bring Jesus to families in crisis.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”

A Journey of Faith and Service

From evangelism on the streets to disaster relief across the nation, Christ In Action has always followed one call: to bring Christ’s love to people in their darkest times. These are just some of the ways God has led us since 1982.

The Heart Behind Every Mission

At the core of Christ In Action is a desire to share not only hope in times of crisis, but the lasting hope found in Jesus Christ. Every act of service is an opportunity to point people toward the love that changes everything.

If you’ve ever wondered what it truly means to know Jesus—or if you’re simply curious about the faith that fuels our mission—we invite you to learn more.

Anchored in Christ

Christ In Action exists to bring Christ’s love to families in crisis. Our mission is clear: bold evangelism, compassionate disaster relief, and practical training that equips believers to serve with excellence.

Everything we do flows out of our faith in Christ. He is the reason we go, the message we share, and the hope we carry into every storm.

Prepared, prayerful, and present.

Living the Mission

When disaster strikes, hope can feel out of reach. That’s where Christ In Action shows up — not only with strong hands, but with prayer, encouragement, and the message of Christ’s love. Every tree cut, every home gutted, every prayer whispered is a chance to remind families that God sees them, even in their darkest days.

Survivors often tell us that the help eases their burden, but it’s the prayers that stay with them long after we leave. That’s why we always go beyond the physical work to the deeper need of the heart.

Equipped to Serve

From the very beginning, CIA has believed in being ready before the storm. With mobile kitchens, showers, chainsaws, and heavy equipment, volunteers are equipped to step in quickly and serve with excellence. But preparedness means more than tools — it means hearts ready to go wherever God calls.

It’s the Gospel that brings lasting hope, and that’s always at the center of every deployment.

In everything we strive to honor Him

A Family on Mission

CIA is more than an organization; it’s a family on mission. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds come together, united by one purpose: to glorify God by serving others. Whether it’s across town or across the country, we go as His hands and feet, knowing that each act of service is an opportunity to point people back to Him.

In every deployment, in every act of kindness, we believe our service is an offering of worship to the Lord.

The Team Behind the Mission

Every deployment, every training, every act of service is made possible by a team of servant leaders who live the message of Christ In Action. From part-time staff to board members, they stand shoulder to shoulder with volunteers — leading not from behind desks but in the mud, the kitchens, and the storm zones.

At Christ In Action, leadership looks different. None of our leaders or staff are paid; each one serves because they believe in the mission and want to give their lives to glorify God. Together, this team equips, mobilizes, and encourages thousands of volunteers to bring Christ’s love in crisis.

Our Bases Around the World

From our headquarters in the U.S. to global partners in Europe and Asia, each base carries the same mission: to bring the love of Christ to those in crisis—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

In 2018, Christ In Action established its permanent home base in Culpeper County, Virginia, with the purchase of a 40,000 sq. ft. facility on six acres—entirely debt-free. What began as a bold step of faith quickly became a testament to God’s provision, as partners and volunteers donated labor, materials, and resources to make the vision a reality.

Today, the Culpeper headquarters serves as the heart of operations for every deployment and training mission. From this base, CIA equips volunteers, maintains equipment, and stores vital supplies—ensuring teams are always ready to respond when disaster strikes. More than a building, it stands as a symbol of hope, stewardship, and the unwavering commitment to bring the love of Christ to America’s families.

CIA Maine

Launched in 2017, CIA Maine was established to bring practical help and the hope of Christ to communities facing severe winter storms and extended power outages. What began as a simple vision for a warming shelter has become a fully equipped regional hub for response and training—complete with a backup generator, showers, and a commercial kitchen.

From offering warmth and meals to families in crisis, to equipping volunteers for emergency management across the Northeast, CIA Maine stands ready to serve when it matters most. Through compassion in action, they’re meeting physical needs while sharing the light of Christ in some of the region’s darkest moments.

CIA Midwest

Launched in 2025, CIA Midwest began with a simple “yes.” During a Christ In Action training in Wisconsin’s Chippewa Valley, a small group caught the vision to serve their community through disaster response and emotional care. What started as a handful of volunteers saying, “Here I am, send me,” grew into a thriving Ready Team that has since ministered to thousands in Jesus’ name.

Now established as an official base, the Midwest team continues to serve with humility and excellence—responding to disasters, supporting first responders, and equipping churches throughout the region. Led by Base Director Joan Miller, their mission is to bring hope to America’s families when crisis strikes, standing ready to serve with the love of Christ at the heart of every action.

In partnership with local churches and community leaders, the team serves families impacted by typhoons, floods, and other natural disasters—providing food, care, and the message of God’s love in every act of service.

Beyond relief work, CIA Philippines equips believers through training and outreach, empowering them to carry hope into their own neighborhoods. Their dedication continues to inspire others to join in rebuilding lives and restoring faith across the islands.

Based in London, K180 (CIA Europe) is an evangelistic discipleship ministry equipping believers to boldly share the Gospel throughout Europe. While not a disaster relief base, their mission reflects the same heartbeat as Christ In Action—mobilizing Christians to bring the hope of Jesus to a world in need.

Through street outreach, evangelism training, and partnerships with local churches, K180 is raising up leaders to impact their communities with courage and compassion. Together, CIA and K180 continue to extend the ministry’s reach globally, inspiring lives transformed by the message of Christ.

From Our Family to Yours

When we founded Christ In Action in 1982, we never imagined the journey God would take us on. From the streets of America to disaster sites across the world, one thing has always remained the same: His call to love people in their darkest times.

We’re grateful for every volunteer, partner, and friend who has joined us along the way. And we believe the best is yet to come. Thank you for being part of this story — we couldn’t do it without you.
