Haiti Deployment Meeting

Great News!

June 25th is the target date for our homes to begin shipping to Haiti from South Carolina. This first load should arrive in Haiti and be unloaded July 6th. Please keep in mind this is "best case scenario."   The Haitian Government can change the delivery dates by a week or more and has done so in the past, we have to be ready for the best case scenario and have contingency plans in place as well.

We need volunteers to go to Haiti to help assemble these homes. We are taking small teams of men only at first due to security. We have space there for 6 volunteers and will rotate every two weeks. We need men that can commit to being there for two weeks at a time and can and will work hard in extreme weather conditions. Currently the weather in Haiti is 100 degrees and above with high humidity every day cooling down to about 80 degrees over night. The accommodations include showers, food, sleeping in tents, but there’s no air conditioning. These are not favorable conditions for anyone with health issues.

June 22, 2010 at 7:00pm EST we will be having an informational meeting in the Chapel at Manassas Assembly of God (11500 New Life Way Bristow, VA 20136) for all volunteers interested in going to Haiti with Christ In Action. If you live within 100 or so miles of this location and desire to go with us you will need to be at this meeting. This is a mandatory meeting for anyone who desires to go.

If you do not live close enough we need you to send us an email with all of your contact information including cell phone number and your area of skilled expertise. We will then send you an email invitation to join us via live conference call where you will be able to hear as we discuss the Haiti trip details. Conference call participants will be able to submit questions live via email.

We also need a few men who can commit to a longer, maybe two or more months, deployment to help run CIA's mission on the ground. You must be a flexible person with a desire to help hurting Haitians.

We will give you all the particulars concerning packing, plane tickets and other details as we move forward in this stage of our deployment.

Please note:  CIA does not cover your transportation cost but will provide food, lodging and ground transportation free of charge once you are in Haiti. All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older in order to deploy with CIA.

Thank you for helping us to bring Hope & Homes to Haiti,

The Christ In Action Disaster Response Team
