The latest reports anticipate Hurricane Irene to make landfall as a Category 3 hurricane. If your area is in danger, be sure to have a preparedness plan in place and follow the recommendations of local authorities.
An assessment team is preparing to leave for the Carolinas. We will stage inland of hurricane Irene and be in position to assess as soon as conditions are safe.
Please follow us on our blog, Facebook & Twitter for the latest information on our assessment and possible deployment. If you would like to receive updates via email, you may use our email signup on our website (under "Resources") or on our Facebook page.
Once an assessment has been made and we have determined that we will indeed deploy, we will announce the opening of volunteer registration via our website. Please do not sign up in advance of that announcement or call our office asking when or where we will be deploying. Once the general announcement is made and volunteers sign up on our website, our volunteers coordinator will contact you to confirm exact location and dates.
Please review our Deployment Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) on our website before signing up as a volunteer. Remember that CIA does not provide transportation to or from Camp Hope.
We need your prayers as decisions are made and people are affected by this storm in many different ways. We are in need of donations to support our assessment team and deployment preparations. You may donate online at christinaction.com/donate.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
Blessings,
CIA Staff
