Furnishing Hope - An origin story.
One way that Christ in Action ministers to residents who have experienced a major disaster is by calling them on the 6-month anniversary of the disaster to see how they are holding up, how we can pray for them, and what their current needs are. As our team called the hundreds of residents we assisted after Hurricane Florence in New Bern, NC in 2018, we found a common theme emerging. While many had completed reconstruction of their homes, they did not have the resources needed to purchase furniture, or even everyday appliances, to make their homes fully functional again.
Enter: Furnishing Hope.
That same year Christ In Action moved into a 40,000 sq. ft. warehouse. Coincidence? We think not. We put out a call for local individuals and churches to donate new or gently used furniture and working appliances for us to take down to these families in NC. We partnered with our host church to distribute these resources in the community, and Furnishing Hope was born.
Essential Partners.
We always partner with local churches on the ground and network with other faith-based non-profits to serve these families, since they will be there long after we move on to the next crisis. Through individual donations as well as local stores that regularly donate goods, Christ in Action is able to load tractor-trailers with new and gently used furniture and working appliances, and deliver them to people & areas across the country as they walk through Long Term Recovery.
